Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy or esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is the endoscopic examination of the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. EGD allows diagnosing esophageal, gastric and duodenal pathologies. 

During this procedure following interventions are performed; 

  • biopsy

  • Helicobacter pylori tests

  • hemostasis (sclerotherapy, clipping)

  • ligation (endoscopic hemostatic method for esophageal varices)

  • endoscopic placement of nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
